A native of Annapolis, Kathie graduated magna cum laude from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1981. She went on to further her education through graduate work in Finance at the University of Maryland. In total, Kathie has over 27 years of experience in accounting; she began her professional career with the Maryland General Assembly in 1983. Kathie acquired further accounting experience and expertise with the CPA firm of Hammond and Heim. She received her CPA license in 1989.
Kathie is currently a principal in HeimLantz, PC where she came from her prior position as Finance Director of the City of Annapolis. A 1998 graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel, Kathie is active in many community and professional organizations. Currently she serves on the City of Annapolis Police and Fire Retirement Plan Committee and Anne Arundel County Pension Trustee Board. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Hospice of the Chesapeake and The Summit School as well as being an active member of the Annapolis Rotary Club. Her professional organization memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Kathie focuses on helping individuals, families and businesses plan for the future to meet personal and professional objectives through comprehensive solutions. Her goal is to be her clients’ trusted advisor, providing peace of mind through tax-advantaged wealth creation, preservation and distribution solutions.
Kathie resides in her family home, built by her grandfather in 1920, on Harness Creek Road in Annapolis.
