Thomas J. Lantz, Jr. is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) with over 20 years of experience in the profession. His primary focus is working closely with small businesses and their owners, providing strategic advice to achieve the long and short-term goals of the business and business owners. He brings with him quality audit, accounting, consulting and tax experience to meet the ever-changing financial needs of small businesses. Tommy has extensive experience in auditing and accounting with industry emphasis in government contractors, construction contractors, non-profit organizations, employee benefit plans, and closely held businesses. He has directed financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for small businesses ranging from start-ups to organizations with $100 million in annual revenues. He is familiar with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the SBA regulations as they pertain to 8(a) compliance and is able to assist small businesses in navigating the many complexities that are involved. Tommy works closely with government contractors and senior financial management to assist with DCAA compliance and designing and implementing proper indirect rate structures. He also works with small businesses on designing and implementing internal control policies and procedures to help minimize the potential for fraud, and assist in more accurate and timely financial reporting. Following graduation from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1990, Tommy went on to earn his accounting degree from the University of Maryland in 1994. He received his CPA certification in 1997. He is a member of the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA), including serving on the Technology Committee, and of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Tommy is also a Certified Information Technology Professional and serves as HeimLantz’s Director of Audit and Attest Services and Information Technology. He is a Guild Council member of the Government Contractors Guild of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce and is an active member of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council. Tommy has also received Lean Sigma Six certification as a Green Belt from Ohio State University.
